Then if your two cards and the dealer&#8217;s up card are\na three of a kind, you&#8217;re paid 90 to 1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A straight flush gets you a 180 to 1, and\nthree of a kind suited gets you 270 to 1. You also get your 9 to 1 payout on\nyour regular 21+3 bet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The house advantage on just the top three\nbet is approximately 9 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The More Decks, The Merrier<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of decks in play can influence the house\nadvantage by a few tenths of a point on your blackjack hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the house advantage on your 21+3 bet can\nchange by several whole percentage points depending on the number of decks in\nplay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The original 21+3 offered up by Shufflemaster\nat casinos across Europe, America and Asia is a prime example. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s the paytable from 1-8 decks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>8 decks<\/td><td>2.74 percent<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>6 decks<\/td><td>3.24 percent<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>4 decks<\/td><td>4.24 percent<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>2 decks<\/td><td>7.26 percent<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>1 deck<\/td><td>13.3 percent<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The casino&#8217;s advantage is more than twice as\nmuch if you play the 21+3 side bet on the double-deck game vs. an eight-deck\nshoe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even on the IGT and Evolution payout tables\ndiscussed above, the difference between a six-deck shoe and an eight-deck shoe\nis almost a whole percentage point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So this game is best played with every\npayout paying 9 to 1 and on an eight-deck shoe. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Failing that, look for as many decks as\npossible, with one of these pay tables preferably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can 21+3 Be Beaten?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While a lower house edge is always a better\nbet, can the game be beaten? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eliot Jacobson, a table games hacker of sorts,\nshowed that a simple count of suits was enough to beat the game, albeit with a\nvery low expected return and a high degree of difficulty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But as many casinos went to progressive pay tables with three ace of spades or something similar, many individuals and teams realized they could look for progressive payouts that were large enough to give the player the advantage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In these very limited cases, the mathematical\npendulum had swung to favor the player as the size of the jackpot grew to\noffset the slight house advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So it never hurts to keep an eye out for large\nprogressive meters when scouting for a 21+3 table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conversely, small jackpots on these\nprogressive games may mean that you are playing at a much worse house advantage\nthan you would be just playing on a conventional game, so beware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>21+3 Is Here To Stay<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>21+3 is a simple, fun side bet, which, if\nyou&#8217;re careful, doesn&#8217;t have to have a huge house advantage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It can add a lot of excitement for just a $1 or $5 bet, and it gets the whole table pulling together in a way that <a aria-label=\"blackjack (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blackjack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blackjack<\/a> doesn&#8217;t always. It&#8217;s similar to, but better than, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/blog\/what-is-rummy-in-blackjack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rummy side bet<\/a>.
