Help me understand how this project would help the residents [temporary or permanent] or tax payers of the Centre Region?
]]>I remember getting my first credit card application when I purchased books at my university bookstore. That can be tempting enough for a college student getting a taste of independence. To promote and partner with an organization that is designed to strategically target and influence people and lead to addictive behaviors makes the supporters culpable too.
Instead of tearing down lives, couldn’t we use the space in the mall to build people up?
]]>Despite a plethora of manipulated statistics trying to convince people to the contrary, those of us living here in the real world know what kind of trouble follows right on the heels of any gambling establishment. Prostitution/trafficking, drug dealing, just to name a few. There’s absolutely no denying that gambling institutions attract a bad element, in addition to young people not yet aware of the dangers first-hand.
Someone buried all of these plans in a bunch of government bureaucracy and paperwork and did the absolute bare minimum required, but didn’t adequately get word out about it to the citizens of this area or they’d have heard much, much sooner how people feel about it. But you know now – not only in all these comments (1 for every 100 or more who feel the same way but don’t know how or who to express it to online!), but also by all those who have attended meeting after meeting expressing their disdain and utter rejection of such a damaging proposal – so don’t turn a blind eye like you’re unaware.
“A casino near a college.” Just say that to yourself a number of times over and the answer is quite obvious. Seriously, it’s pretty much a no-brainer. Just. Don’t. Do. It!
