A Canadian man filed a lawsuit after he claimed he was not given a $220,550 jackpot while playing an internet casino game that is registered in Argentina, according to a recent report.

Victor Janicki of Kelowna, British Columbia, a retired attorney, filed the legal action in British Columbia Supreme Court. He claims he made a side bet while playing blackjack on February 23 on BetOnline.ag’s BJ Classic Game, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Janicki was dealt two 7s of diamonds. He became eligible for a jackpot but his screen blackened for several seconds. When it reappeared, Janicki saw two online employees who told him he won a jackpot and congratulated him.

Later, casino staff told him he never won the money. In early April, Janicki was sent a recreation of what happened in the game, though he dispute the casino’s version of events.

Janicki filed the legal action in an effort to collect the money. A judge may release a directed verdict in the case sometime next month, the Review-Journal reported.

The news organization could not reach BetOnline.ag for comment on the litigation.
