The rumors sparked some oddsmakers into determining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/elon-musk-vs-mark-zuckerberg-cage-match-prompts-odds\/\">hypothetical odds<\/a> on what would likely be one of the most hyped fights in world history.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p class=\"p1\">UFC President Dana White is in the middle of it all, as both billionaires have reached out to him to gauge the other&#8217;s true interest in the showdown. While the UFC Octagon in Las Vegas was initially floated, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2023\/06\/29\/elon-musk-mark-zuckerberg-mma-fight-colosseum-rome-italian-government-dana-white-ufc\/\"><i>TMZ <\/i><\/a>reported today that the Colosseum &#8212; and not the one in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace, but the actual Roman Colosseum &#8212; was being considered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">The celebrity news site said an official with the Italian government got ahold of Zuck to present him with the idea of hosting the fight in the Colosseum. <i>TMZ <\/i>claimed a source with direct knowledge told the website that an official with the Ministry of Culture was behind the Zuckerberg call.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Elon subsequently tweeted last night about the Colosseum rumor after White discussed the venue with the two sides.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Some chance fight happens in Colosseum<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Elon Musk (@elonmusk) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1674635153061330946?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 30, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><b>Italian Government Says Nonsense<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">Musk&#8217;s tweet about possibly coming to blows with Zuckerberg inside the Colosseum garnered more than 309,000 likes and 18,000 retweets. But the Italian government quickly squashed the reports.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>There has been no formal contact from the ministry nor any written document, even if the news appears tasty it is unfounded,&#8221;<\/strong> the Italian government statement read.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\"><i>TMZ, <\/i>for its part, isn&#8217;t backing down from its reporting. The tabloid outlet maintained the accuracy of its sources.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"main-blockquote\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Sources with direct knowledge confirm again \u2026 the ministry first reached out to Mark Zuckerberg, then the request was forwarded to Dana White, and there was a follow-up and a call was set for next week. Our sources are scoffing at this, saying the ministry reached out because of the fight challenge,&#8221;<\/strong> the website explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Colosseum would appear to be an unlikely candidate to host such a spectacle, as the elliptical amphitheater has been substantially ruined by earthquakes over its more than 2,000 years of standing. Known as one of the &#8220;New 7 Wonders of the World,&#8221; the Colosseum is a renowned symbol of Imperial Rome and remains one of Italy&#8217;s most popular tourist attractions.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><b>The &#8216;Other&#8217; Colosseum<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Roman Colosseum likely won&#8217;t be the place where Musk and Zuckerberg fight. But should the billionaires actually agree to fight, White might target the Caesars Colosseum on the Las Vegas Strip.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">White has said in the past that Caesars Palace, where the Colosseum operates, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/dana-white-says-caesars-palace-las-vegas-is-his-favorite-casino\/\">his favorite casino in town<\/a>. That came as a surprise to some, considering his close ties to billionaires Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta III, the brothers who own Station Casinos and Red Rock Resorts.
