(Image: <em>KVVU-TV\/Las Vegas<\/em>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>KVVU-TV\/Las Vegas<\/em> reports being alerted to the unacceptable situation last week by several viewer emails. So, the news station paid a visit to the property, which is just east of the Tropicana demolition site off the Strip.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What they observed were several swamp coolers operating on the casino floor, no air streaming from the A\/C vents, and small fans pointed at the flushed faces of front desk employees.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the time of their visit last week, an OYO rep told <em>KVVU<\/em> that \u201cthe A\/C is not operating in a small portion of the casino.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Las Vegas has experienced record-shattering heat this week. The National Weather Service (NWS) said the temperature at Harry Reid International Airport <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/its-the-hottest-day-ever-in-las-vegas-by-2f\/\" data-uw-rm-brl=\"PR\" data-uw-original-href=\"https:\/\/news3lv.com\/news\/local\/las-vegas-valley-hits-118-degrees-breaking-all-time-record-high-temperature#\" aria-label=\"reached 120 degrees on Sunday - open in a new tab\" data-uw-rm-ext-link=\"\">reached 120\u00b0F<\/a> on Sunday<strong>,<\/strong> three degrees hotter than the hottest temperature ever recorded in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p>No report mentioned a temperature measurement inside the OYO, which opened on the former site of the Hooters Hotel in 2019. While federal OSHA uses 80\u00b0F as the heat threshold to trigger consequences, Nevada OSHA considers 90\u00b0F more appropriate for the state\u2019s dry climate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Nevada OSHA has no enforceable heat illness standard.<\/p>\n<p>One may be on the way, however.
